Toshiba Excite pure, Excite pro and Excite write tablets

Android tablets are really having a tough time competing with Apple's iPad and iPad mini. That does not mean manufacturers will stop themselves from taking the risk with Android-based tablets. Samsung is a formidable player and Google's own Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets are available to provide stock Android experience but there are few others who seem interested. Toshiba is one such company who is taking things seriously. They have recently launched three new tablets-Excite Pure, Excite pro and Excite Write. Here's some info about their specs and pricing.

The most affordable amongst the three is Excite pure. This $299.99 device mostly comprises of an year-old specs but it is still a pretty great tablet. It is powered by a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor supported by 1GB RAM, a 10.1-inch display with 1280x800 resolution and runs on Android 4.2.2 OS which is pretty much the stock Android OS with just minor alterations. the display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 1 (yeah, that's a bit outdated but gets the job done any ways), comes with 16GB built in storage which can be expanded via microSD card. There no rear camera so a front-facing 1.3 MP shooter is all you will get.  Connectivity Options also include micro-USB and micro-HDMI ports.

If you stretch your budget a bit, you can buy Toshiba Excite Pro. The device features a 10.1-inch screen but with a resolution of 2560x1600. It runs on Tegra 4 processor which is quite an upgrade over Excite Pure's Tegra 3 chip. The device also runs on the very same Android 4.2.2 OS. The extra bucks mean that you will also get a 8MP rear camera along with a front-facing 1.2MP camera. Excite Pro also has 2GB Ram, 32GB of built-in storage which can be expanded via MicroSD card slot, a mini-USB and mini-HDMI port. Toshiba has also included Harman/Kardon speakers in Excite Pro so you can expect good quality audio from the tablet. Excite pro is priced at $499.99 which is on par with Apple iPad and full $100 expensive than Nexus 10, too.

The best in the series is Excite Write. The device is similar to the Excite pro in terms of specification but what sets it apart is the digitizer Pen. Its an input device which works like Samsung's S-pen. Where S-pen was thickened stylus, Toshiba's Digitizer Pen looks and feels like an actual Pen and also has 1024 different pressure point which means you can hold it exactly like you would hold a regular pen while writing and there would be no impact on its performance.

A host of unique applications like Notebook and ThinkOffice make it a tough competitor to Samsung Note 800. Excite Write can be yours for $599.99 which seems a pretty good deal.

Will you be buying any one of these tablets? Is the price point of these devices bit high considering competition? Do you think Android tablets stand a chance against Apple's iPads? Comment and let us know.
